Strategies for Managing Stress in the Workplace
If you are working at a job where the expectations are unrealistic, you are going to feel stress. If you have deadlines you can't meet, goals you don't understand, and a boss who is a tyrant, you are not alone. There are ways to deal with this kind of stress, though.
Try deep breathing exercises to cope with your stress. You can do this right in your chair at work. Stretching is also a good way to relieve your stress and help loosen your muscles. You can also reduce the stress in your mind to help you be more focused at work and home. Stress can cause memory loss and make feel irritated for no reason.
During your deep breathing exercises, close your eyes and try meditating. This is a simple form of relaxation that lets you escape from your stress. Focus on positive thoughts instead of the things that are bothering you. Think about something that makes you happy like your family or a favorite hobby or activity.
These are ways to cope with stress right away but you also have to get to the causes of the stress. If you want to get away from a stressful job, you could consider starting a business of your own. Of course, this can be stressful as well because of the long hours and hard work it takes to get noticed in the business world. You will feel good, however, knowing you are in charge of your destiny and there is no one who is going to tell you what to do and when to do it.
You could also to try to change your workplace for the better. If you can even make small changes, you will feel less stress and gain confidence from knowing you made a difference for yourself and others. Also consider changing positions or even finding a new job. You could also wait it out until your boss finally leaves. Big companies change quickly so that may not take very long. While waiting, you can focus on what you like about your job and not what is causing you stress. Have realistic expectations for yourself and don't let other people bother you.
